Chris Coulter
Chris holds a PhD in Social Anthropology from Uppsala University, Sweden. Her research specialized in gender, conflict and post-conflict, socio-cultural analysis, strategy and methodology development.
She is the Project Manager for Sida's Global International Training Programme (ITP) in 1325: Women, Peace and Security with participants exclusively from conflict and post conflict countries.
Before joining Indevelop she was an independent consultant, project manager for the Sida ITP Human Rights towards Gender Equality, and a senior lecturer at Stockholm University. Chris has also worked as senior lecturer and coordinator for a master's degree level course on peace, conflict and humanitarian assistance at Uppsala University.
As an independent consultant she has focused on evaluations and short term assignments in the areas of humanitarian and development aid on gender based violence, women's economic empowerment, and gender auditing. She has also provided training and lecturing in gender and human rights, gender mainstreaming, gender auditing, women's economic empowerment and poverty reduction, as well as on project management.
Chris has experience from working in Egypt, Ethiopia, Guinea, Iraq, Jordan, Kenya, Laos, Lebanon, Morocco, Sierra Leone, Syria, Tanzania, Vietnam, and Zambia. Chris has lived in Sierra Leone and Zambia.
She is the author of the book "Bush Wives and Girls Soldiers: Women's lives through war and peace in Sierra Leone", Cornell University Press (2009).
