A review is currently being undertaken for Sida of Swedish support to civil society in Moldova.Sida initiated a development co-operation programme in the Republic of Moldova in 1996. An important part of this programme concerns support to the civil society in Moldova.

The review will look at the three organisations supported by Sida: East Europe Foundation, Soros Foundation Moldova and Civil Rights Defenders. The aim of the review is to provide input into the process of formulating a model for Swedish support, based on the current contributions and the new Co-operation Strategy with Moldova, as of the year 2012.

Sida support three thematic areas in Moldova which the review will focus on:

• Sustainable development of society
• Market development
• Democracy, human rights and gender equality
