Support to the Midwife Training Programme

Background

As part of the efforts to decrease the maternal and infant mortality it was decided to start a midwife training centre within the Swedish health sector support to Angola. The assistance was directed to the Midwife Training Programme within the Human Resources Department of Ministry of Health.

Services provided

• Assisting in the selection process of students
• Assisting in planning, elaboration and making necessary adjustments of the curriculum and the reference literature
• Assisting the administrative preparation for the course
• Supporting the programme in taking advantage of the graduated midwifes and thus ensuring an improved quality of care in contacts with patients through all levels in the referral system
• Assisting in the evaluation of the course as a whole
