Strengthening Women‘s Economic Empowerment
Development of a two-year work plan for Sida (WEE). Our consultant worked as a gender expert for Sida to strengthening focus on women's economic empowerment (WEE) in Swedish development cooperation in large and to elaborate the main WEE issues.
The project developed a concept paper for women's economic empowerment, an action plan for implementation of WEE in Sida's work and defined priorities for Sida's work on WEE.
Main outputs were :
- Conceptualization of WEE. Six discussion papers were produced by various researchers as a basis for the conceptualization. The concept is elaborated in the new Sida publication.
- A Sida's scope of engagement on Women's Economic Empowerment. Sida working paper. The project also resulted in Integration of WEE into other policy areas works.
- Portfolio analysis of five country programs; Kosovo, Albania, Macedonia, Zambia and Ethiopia. Action Plans developed in all countries to be implemented during 2010. Workshop on WEE for partners and stakeholders in Macedonia.
- Workshop in Zambia for donor partners on how to strengthen work on WEE in Zambia. Resulted in specific recommendations on how to integrate a WEE perspective into the next World Bank; Public Expenditure Review on Agricultural sector.
- Development of a WEE tool kit and Quick Guides on: Equal access to land and property, Gender and unpaid care work, EU Gender Acquis, and WEE in relation to the EU enlargement process.
