Strengthening of National Mechanisms for Gender Equality by Capacity Building
Objective:
The main objective of the project was to strengthen capacities of national mechanisms for gender equality.
Services Provided:
The project included training of 13 coordinators for gender equality in ministries and coordinators within state administration offices in 21 counties on gender mainstreaming process. The coordinators were trained to assess all projects and programmes on the national and local level from a general gender perspective. The consultants:
- Implemented a series of seminars of local public administration;
- Prepared training programme with topics such as gender perspective analysis of policies, strategies and programmes; gender statistics and gender budgeting;
- Conducted a two-day training seminars in gender mainstreaming for public administration;
- Organised a five-days study visit to Sweden;
- Carried out field visits to six national regions.
The training helped coordinators in implementing EU directives concerning gender equality and to become more sensitive for the issue of equality between men and women in shaping and implementing all national policies.
