Strengthening focus on Gender aspects in the Swedish development cooperation with Ethiopia
The main objectives of the assignment were to:
1) Assess how well gender equality was addressed and implemented in the Swedish development cooperation with Ethiopia
2) Create an overall plan and roadmap towards strengthened gender equality in Swedish development cooperation with Ethiopia. This included reviewing the portfolio and gender issues in Ethiopia, identifying then current and future entry points to strengthen cooperation on gender equality and women's economic empowerment in Ethiopia, and to assist the Embassy in developing a road map for Sweden's work on gender equality in its cooperation with Ethiopia; and
3) Provide capacity-building of relevant actors: focusing mainly in assisting in developing gender action plans with embassy staff working with development cooperation and partners and follow up that these plans are in place.
Services provided:
- Production of a base-line on how well gender equality was addressed and implemented in the then current Swedish development cooperation.
- Production of an overall Action Plan and Roadmap for strengthening gender in Swedish development cooperation with Ethiopia.
- Assisting the Embassy in developing gender actions and in following up that the gender action plans are in place.
