Review of Sida's International Training Programmes on Human Rights
The review analyzed eleven international training programmes within the field of human rights, including women rights, child rights, social rights and disability. The review focused on a period between 2000 and 2005.
The review included an analysis of how participants can implement gained knowledge of human rights practices in their home organizations in civil society and public administrations. The analysis identified therefore obstacles and opportunities to strengthen capacity building within these organizations.
The review partly aimed at formulating a portfolio of new international training programmes within human rights, and partly identifying lessons learned and best practices in carrying out the international training programmes. The new programmes should match both the Swedish government's priorities in the field of human rights and regional and global needs in human rights.
Furthermore, the review concluded and underlined the importance of developing capacity for the participants to transfer and implement newly gained knowledge at their home organizations, of which many participants represented civil society.
