Integrating a gender perspective in the budgetary process in the Nordic countries; Gender Budgeting
The Company assisted the Nordic Council of Ministers to establish cooperation between governmental ministries responsible for gender equality and the Ministry of Finance to integrate a gender perspective in the budget processes. The three-year project comprised all 5 Nordic countries. It involved method development, pilot projects, seminars and an international conference on Gender Budgeting for EU and the Council of Europe's member countries.
Objective:
The project aimed at developing methods and processes for integrating a gender perspective in national budget processes. The project also involved awareness rising in the Nordic countries on advantages and scope of gender budgeting. The project included various informatory activities such as seminars, meetings, lecturing etc.
Services provided:
The Company provided a Team-leader for 3 years. The team-leder were responsible for managing a team of 10 representatives from the five countries, representing Ministry of Finance and Gender Departments in Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland, Iceland. The team worked as network leading pilot projects in each of the five nordic countries. The project developed 3 publications on nordic experience of gender budgeting and organized workshops and networking between various governmental department. The project also developed metodologies and disseminated experiences from the various countries on the implementation process. The project arranged one seminar for Nordic respesentatives and a final conference ending the project for the Council of Europe's member states, 200 repsentatives participated in Helsinki in November 2006, hosted by Ministry of Finance in Finland.
