Health Sector Reform Project: Procurement Expert

Providing Procurement Expertise as part of the Health Sector Reform Project in Tajikistan.

Background:

The goal of the Health Sector Reform Project in Tajikistan was to support the Government's program for health reform. It aimed to increase the health system efficiency and improve equality of access to essential medical services. The HSRP had three components:

  • building management capacity of the health sector and efficiency through institutional development and reform;
  • extension of equal access to essential health services for vulnerable people, women and children;
  • raising public awareness for the health reform.

 

Services Provided:

  • Preparing a business plan for the National Drug Procurement Center;
  • Setting agreed priorities and developing and elaborating a business strategy for the Center;
  • Determination and development of a management system for the Center, including measures for effective administration;
  • Development of financial and management reporting systems for the Center, and their submission to the Board of Directors and MOH;
  • Assessing equipment, literature and training needs to improve the management capacity of the Center;
  • Submitting recommendations for improvement of state and private drug procurement and distribution.
