A Tool for Introducing human right and gender equality into Health Sector Programme Support
Background:
Sida initiated a project to determine a methodology on how to integrate the Poverty and Rights Perspectives in the SPS process in national health sector plans and programme documents. WHO was brought on board and over time this initiative developed into a Tool, which aims at supporting a human rights-based approach to health development by ensuring that human rights and gender equality are incorporated in health sector strategic documents. The Tool is targeted for use by health policy makers, development partners, civil society organisations and other relevant stakeholder.
The objective of the assignment was to:
- organise a seminar at Sida Stockholm, and
- provide continued support to finalize the Tool.
In order to meet the objectives of the assignments, the consultants carried out the following activities:
- Preparation for the peer review
- Reading comments from the peer reviewers
- Travel to Geneva to meet with WHO colleagues
- Incorporation of comments from peer review/ revision of the Tool
- Preparation and follow up of Sida/WHO seminar, including planning for finalisation work
- Finalisation of the Tool
