WHO Consultation on the Sexual and Reproductive Health of Young Adolescents in Developing Countries
Sarah Thomsen is attending a Consultation on the Sexual and Reproductive Health of Young Adolescents in Developing Countries at WHO in Geneva from November 4-5. She will be representing Sida at the meeting, which is being organized by WHO's Department of Reproductive Health and Research (RHR) in partnership with the departments of Gender, Women and Health (GWH), and Maternal, Newborn, Child and Adolescent Health (MCH).
The overall objective of the meeting is to identify and recommend to WHO (particularly the HRP - Special Programme of Research, Development and Research Training in Human Reproduction) a set of policy-relevant themes, methodologies and potential country settings for a programme of collaborative research on the sexual and reproductive health of young adolescents (ages 10-14 or 12-15). This would include interventions to address their needs for sexuality information, education, health services, and legal and social protections.
