Swedish medical clinic in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia
The Swedish Clinic in Addis Ababa was founded in 1967 operating under an agreement between the Ethiopian and Swedish Governments. It is a membership clinic, providing healthcare to expatriates living in Ethiopia. The clinic functions under the Swedish Embassy and a local advisory board, and is managed by Indevelop, an independent Swedish consultancy firm.
Clinic's objectives
Our goal is to give medical services according to European general practice and family medicine standards. Extra emphasis is laid on the clinics capacity to stabilize and treat serious diseases or traumas before medical evacuation abroad.

The Medical Team
Medical Doctor and Head of Clinic: Dr Olle Liungman, General Practitioner, Specialist in internal medicine. Dr Olle has medical degrees from Graz University, Austria, and Linköping University, Sweden. He speaks English, Swedish, German, French, Portuguese and understands French and Portuguese Creol. He has 30 years of experience from working as a doctor in several African countries. Between 2000 and 2010 he worked as the Head of the Swedish Clinic in Maputo, Mozambique.
Part Time Doctor: Dr. Nigina Muntean, Medical Degree, specialization training in obstetrics and gynecology, and PhD in immunology (pregnancy) from Uzbekistan. Has worked in Papua New Guinea, The Gambia and Ethiopia as a medical doctor with particular interest in mother and child health and gynecology.
Part Time Doctor: Dr. Andreas Kindmark (MD and PhD). Swedish educated specialist in Internal Medicine and Endocrinology. Working experiences from Sweden, Germany and USA as a researcher and clinical doctor. Dr. Andreas speaks fluent Swedish and English.
Stand in Doctor: Dr. Be ede Lemma. Surgeon and specialist in urology from University of Addis Ababa with a Masters of Health from University of Bergen, Norway. 23 years clinical experience.
Medical Services
Drugs: We have a well stocked pharmacy, with high quality drugs from Sweden. When necessary we order specific medication for our members as required.
Laboratory: The clinic offers a wide range of blood tests which we are analyzed within 1-2 hours. Stool tests and urine tests are also analyzed at the clinic. We use a considerable number of rapid tests from the US and Europe.
Pregnancy controls: Complete ante-natal check-ups.
Child health and vaccinations: We provide growth and development consultations and vaccinations. Please call the clinic with regards to your vaccination requirements. We stock a variety of vaccines.
Family physician: The doctors have experience in most common fields of family medicine, such as pediatrics, internal medicine, minor surgery, psychiatry, dermatology, ENT, eye diseases and gynecology, as well as vaccination programs and tropical medicine.
Health services: For Insurance, School and Employment
Evacuations: In case of emergencies, we are able to stabilize the patient at our clinic before evacuating abroad in collaboration with Myungsung Christian Medical Centre (the Korean Hospital) with assistance from their two Norwegian trauma surgeons.
Referrals: We have broad experience in co-operation with hospitals and insurance companies abroad. We also refer patients in need of specialist consultations, more intensive investigation or surgery, to a variety of hospitals abroad.
