Sexual and reproductive health and rights, HIV and AIDS
Sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) include a range of services and rights that range from maternal health, contraceptive availability, youth sexual and reproductive health, abortion rights, the rights of lesbian, bisexual, gay and transsexual (LGBT) persons, the involvement of men and boys, amongst other topics. HIV and AIDS, while an infectious disease, has impact on all sectors, and not just on health. Since sexual activity accounts for 80% of all transmission of HIV, sexual health and rights are intimately related to HIV and AIDS issues. Gender equality is a significant aspect of both SRHR and HIV and AIDS because of the influence of power relations on sexual behavior and on access to health services.
In addition to in-house competencies, InDevelop has access to about 80 consultants within the areas of SRHR and HIV and AIDS through a network of private consultants, non-governmental organizations, government institutions and universities. Our expertise within SRHR is focused on the following topics: maternal health, including safe abortion and contraception, adolescent sexual and reproductive health, sexual rights, sexuality education, gender and SRHR, men and boys' involvement, gender-based violence/Intimate partner violence, and sexual and reproductive health systems including financing of SRHR.
Within HIV and AIDS we have the ability to evaluate service delivery, HIV prevention education, and the promotion of adolescent services and information. We also have expertise in designing and monitoring national strategic plans in HIV and AIDS. We also have a large number of consultants who can help to conduct gender analyses and apply gender perspectives to HIV programs.
Our experts can provide policy analyses for development organizations, develop capacity, conduct assessments and evaluations, develop systems for measuring change and results, conduct workshops and seminars, and design communications strategies.
Our approach is to focus on the areas within SRHR and HIV and AIDS that Sweden is traditionally known for: adolescent sexual and reproductive health, maternal health, sexuality education, and intersections between gender and health.
